8 Signs Your Windows Need To Be Replaced

Have you recently been wondering, “Do I need new windows?” It’s a big decision, but replacing your windows with energy-efficient vinyl windows is a worthwhile investment. New vinyl windows look beautiful and offer practical benefits like noise reduction and reduced energy costs.

AAA Screen & Window Co. has over 60 years of experience to make the entire process stress-free. Still not convinced?

Here are 8 signs that your windows need to be replaced.

1 – They Don’t Open Properly

Not only are you losing out on functionality, but it is also a fire hazard. A window that can’t open properly may be warped or broken and should be replaced for safety reasons alone.

2 – You Feel a Draft

A drafty window is when air leaks in or out of your home, usually through an opening of your window that should otherwise be airtight. Drafty windows can make a room feel less comfortable and require your HVAC system to work harder to keep your home at the set temperature.

To check for a draft, close and lock your windows. Hold your hand at the bottom or top of your window sash where it meets the frame. If you can feel airflow, you have a drafty window.

3 – Physical Damage

This may be common sense, but a window with visibly damaged glass should be fixed immediately. You should replace your window if the frame is damaged beyond repair. A damaged window is more likely to break completely, which could allow rain, mold, and pests to enter your home.

4 – Outdoor Noise

Maybe you live near the highway or on a noisy street in general. Depending on how old your existing windows are and what materials they are made from, you can significantly reduce outside noise by installing replacement vinyl windows for your home.

5 – Energy Bills Seem High

Have you noticed that your energy bills have gone up month to month? Many things can cause this, but your windows may be to blame if nothing seems out of the ordinary. As mentioned earlier, drafty windows can make your HVAC system work harder than needed. This increased workload can cause your electric bills to go up.

Replacing your old windows with energy-efficient vinyl windows can help lower your monthly utility costs.

6 – Condensation Forms on the Inside

Does condensation or fog regularly form on the inside of your window or in between your window panes? This could be a sign that your windows were installed incorrectly or have warped to the point where installation is suffering.

Condensation on the outside of your window is not a sign that you should replace your windows. It simply means it’s warmer and more humid outside than inside.

7 – You Want To Boost Curb Appeal

Curb appeal is your home’s first impression to the outside world. Old and worn-down windows will make a home look unappealing. You should especially replace your windows if you are trying to sell your home, as doing so can help increase your asking price.

8 – You Want To Increase Natural Light

Replacing your windows is also a great way to increase the natural light within your home. We offer many styles and sizes of windows that can let more light in. Our team can design a custom window configuration that best works with the design of your home.
